Any survivalist worth his weight in preps, should know that the key to survival is knowing what you are surviving against. Different disaster scenarios require different plans. Preparing for a particular disaster can leave you vulnerable in certain areas should you be prepared for another type of disaster. Most types of disasters are regionally specfic, meaning that you don't neccessarily have to prepare for all scenarios, just the one most likely to happen. For example, my home state of Indiana is succeptible to tornadoes and severe Tstorms. My preps should be made accordingly. However, it is silly for a hoosier to prepare for hurricanes and major wildfires. Feel free to prepare for those events if you must, just priortize based on likely need first. This map allows you to select certain disaster scenarios and see how prevelent they are in your area. This will give newbies and reference on where to begin plan the survival strategy.
